Department of Hungarian Languages and Literature

The Department of Hungarian Language and Literature is involved both in the BSc and specialization trainings as well. In BSc training it teaches mother language-pedagogy, Hungarian grammar, child literature and introduction into contemporary literature. In Hungarian specialization apart from course-pedagogy general and applied linguistics, literature history, literature theory and youth literature courses are given. The various research topics of the department include the studying of linguistic, literature and cultural historical effects of reformation, and the modern literature and intermedial features (e.g. relationship between image and text) of literature. Working out the adjustment of course-pedagogy measures into information and communication technical (ICT) environment and new methodological elements has an important role. The department carries out a wide range of talent management tasks from preparing students to carry out student research (taking part in talent day events) to professional education competitions. A story-teller competition is held in every autumn, the university round of mother language teaching competition is organized in spring while the national round is hosted in April. Poem telling and spelling competitions are organized in spring together with the celebration of the Day of Hungarian Culture. Colleagues of the department regularly take part in national and foreign scientific conferences and involved in the editing of the scientific journal of the institute. Several colleagues carry out extended publication, scientific and literature activities and are active members of national scientific and arts organisations.
