Department of Sciences

Courses given by the Department of Sciences are included in both BSc and specialization trainings. Regarding BSc the department gives introduction to basic physical and chemical phenomena, teaches nature studies – pedagogy associated with the course environmental knowledge. Hygiene, ecology and nature protection courses provide the framework for knowledge related to personal hygiene and to the relationship of man with the immediate and global environment. Regarding nature studies specialization besides course-pedagogy physical and social geography, history of science, Hungarian flora and fauna and environmental culture courses are taught apart from the basic level knowledge. Regarding technics, lifestyle, home economics specializations, besides teaching technics, the history of using energy, communication systems and course-pedagogy the courses of flat, home economics, husbanding and neighbourhood together with food and lifestyle also have important roles. Members of the department carry out a various research ranging from methodology, via history of science, science philosophy and eco-management to agricultural-social research. The department also carries out a wide range of talent management: organizing competitions and contests in teaching, preparing students for taking part in student research and participating in the talent days of our university and in national meetings. Colleagues of the department regularly attend national and cross-border conferences, edit the scientific journal of the institute and are members of different professional and scientific organisations via their scientific activity and publications.
